Meet Chef Jennifer Gordon. A native of Guilford, Connecticut, Jennifer attended The Center for Culinary Arts in Cromwell, Connecticut, and later honed her culinary skills at various well known establishments including the nearby Old Lyme Inn. She had early aspirations of a career in the art field, thinking that she would one day become an Art Teacher. As fate would have it though, she was bitten by the culinary bug! Fortunate for us at The Back Porch as we can now bring our guests her wonderful cuisine! So what was it that drew her to the Restaurant Industry? "I've always thought it's important to sit down and have a meal with the people you love", says Jennifer. "Every day I create that experience for someone else." Her favorite dish on the menu? The Stonington Sea Scallops with Littleneck Clams steamed in Chourizo and Sweet Corn Broth!

Grilled Block Island Striped Bass with
Braised Fennel, Lemon Butter
and Tomato Vinaigrette.
Here: a simply cooked but delectable order of Harpoon Beer Battered Georges Bank Cod

I happened to log on to find out what's going on for SPRING in the Old Lyme and Old Saybrook area, and was happy to see that your new Executive Chef is Jen! My son worked for her (and the Exec Chef) at the Old Lyme Inn when he was in High School, so I am thrilled to see her new role as your Executive Chef! I will be sure to visit the Backporch this Spring/Summer. I haven't been for a couple of years, so I am looking forward to it. Love your deck with the fire pit!!! And good luck to new owner, Maggie Gallagher!
Best regards,
Gloria Vincent
